Our Leathers

The Raw Materials Of Our Craft

All of our leathers fall into one of three categories;

house,  special order,  or small batch.

HOUSE Leathers

These are the standard leathers we have in stock at all/most times. If for some reason we are sold out of any of our house leathers, we can typically restock them within 1-2 business days.

SPECIAL ORDER Leathers

These are leathers we do not always have in stock but can usually order. Lead times for us to restock these leathers vary, ranging from one week to several months.

SMALL BATCH Leathers

These are limited quantity leathers. We usually only have one or two hides and cannot order more. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

Below, you’ll find photos and descriptions of all the leathers we currently have in stock.

These photos represent samples of each particular leather. Your item(s) may not be made from the exact hides shown below. Keep in mind that leather is a natural product. As such, there will be slight variations (color, markings, etc.) between hides.

Due to monitor settings, lighting, etc. actual colors may vary slightly from the photos.

HOUSE  LEATHERS

It has a weight/thickness of 4 – 5oz. with a medium temper.

Cognac Oiled is a chrome tanned leather with moderate texture on the grain side. Our Vegetable Tanned leather is the only leather we can “stamp” text or images directly in to. If you see something in our shop with text stamped into it (a quote, scripture verse, etc.), it was made from Vegetable Tanned leather. Unlike chrome tanned leather which is dyed during the tanning process, this natural vegetable tanned leather is undyed when we receive it. The natural color is represented in the first three photos above. We can leave it in the natural state or hand dye it any of the colors shown in the last photo.

Our Vegetable Tanned leather has a weight/thickness of 6 – 7 oz. with a medium to firm temper. One of the things people love about vegetable tanned leather is its durability and longevity. It will develop a unique patina over time–the more you use it, the better it gets. That being said, initially, it can feel stiff.  At first, it won’t feel as buttery as some of our oiled leathers. However, if you’re willing to break it in, it will soften up over time and with use.
